BYLAWS OF the Central Texas Basket Guild
ARTICLE I – MISSION
The purpose of this guild shall be to stimulate interest in and perpetuate the art of basketry.
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to anyone interested in the art of basketry. The membership year shall be January-December of each year. To participate in a class taught by a guest teacher, you must be a member of the Guild.
ARTICLE III – MEETINGS
The annual membership meeting of this organization shall be held in December of each year.
Regular Guild meetings shall be held on Sunday of every even month beginning with February, on a schedule established each year.
The presence of a majority of the members present, with a minimum of five members present, shall constitute a quorum and shall be necessary to conduct the business of this organization.
ARTICLE IV – VOTING (NOMINATIONS & ELECTIONS)
At all meetings, except for the election of officers, all votes shall be by voice. For election of officers, ballots shall be provided and there shall not appear any place on such ballot that might tend to indicate the person who cast such ballot.
The Executive Committee shall appoint a nominating committee annually. The nominating committee shall select one or more nominees for each office. The nominees shall be members in good standing and willing to serve. One-half of the Executive Committee positions will be open for elections on alternating years. (One-half in even numbered years, one-half in odd numbers of years.)
Even Years: President, Vice President, Treasurer
Odd Years: Secretary, Newsletter Editor/Communications, Hospitality
ARTICLE V – ORDER OF BUSINESS (ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER, REVISED)
ARTICLE VI – OFFICERS/EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
All officers will maintain individual notebooks to keep a history of information pertinent to that position.
The initial officers of the organization shall be as follows and known as the Executive Committee:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Newsletter Editor/Communications
Hospitality Coordinator
ARTICLE VII – DUES
The dues of this Guild shall be $20 per annum. Annual membership dues shall be set by the Executive Committee, presented to the general membership and adopted by a quorum of the general membership at the December meeting. Annual dues shall be reduced by one-half ($10) after July of each year. Dues are to be paid to the Treasurer by the first meeting of each fiscal year. If a member has not paid due by the end of February, they wll be dropped from the membership list and will not receive any Guild communications.
ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS
These Bylaws may be altered, amended, repealed or added to by an affirmative vote.
Any member in good standing may present recommendation for changes to these Bylaws to the Executive Committee.
Proposed amendments must be submitted to the President and Vice-President one month prior to next Guild meeting.
These Bylaws were approved at the Central Texas Guild meeting on April 5, 2009.
